This is an original story about wanting to be accepted but having a hard time being vulnerable.
We all build up protections and armor in our life. We develop ways to cope and ways to protect our heart from the scary things. Sometimes these defense mechanisms serve us well, but eventually they can hinder our ability to become close to others. I know in my own life I've done this and have sometimes also tried to use what I thought was beautiful, as a way to attract interest in others. At some point though, we just need to be comfortable with who we are and our own hearts. Being our true selves is what makes us unique but also a part of something larger and more wonderful in this world- the ability to create communities and love.
